15th Annual Robert Frost Foundation

Annual Poetry Award

Guidelines for the 2011 Robert Frost Award 

  1. Poems should be postmarked (or emailed) between March 1, 2012 and September 15, 2012 to be considered for the 2011 award.

  2. Please send two copies of your poem written in the "spirit of Robert Frost" (whatever you feel that may be).  One copy should have your name, address, email and phone #. The other copy should not have this information on it.                                                                

  3. Poets may submit up to three poems each of not more than three pages for consideration. 

  4. Poems should be on plain paper with no marks other than the poem and the title. 

  5. Prior published work may be submitted; for all work submitted to the Robert Frost Foundation, you retain copyright and the Robert Frost Foundation will request your  permission if we choose to publish your work on our web site or in other foundation publications.

  6. Original manuscripts should have your name, address, email and phone #; please include a second copy of each page that will be sent to the judges and therefore should not have any information that identifies you as the author.

  7. Please note:  Email submissions are acceptable in the following formats:

    1. --a single MS. Word document attached that presents one page per poem.

    2. --the text from any word processing document pasted into the body of the email.  Email submissions to should be sent to frostfoundation@comcast.net  

  8. Manuscripts will not be returned.

  9. Winners will be notified in late September of their position on the judges short-list. 

  10.  If you wish to receive information regarding the winning poet, enclose a self-addressed stamped envelope or visit the site frostfoundation.org or frostawards.blogspot.com on the day after Frost Festival (the fourth Saturday in October) when the official announcement will be posted.

  11. Deadline for submission is September 15, 2012.

  12. Please enclose a $10.00 per poem entry reading fee made payable to The Robert Frost Foundation. In the case of electronic submissions, manuscripts submitted via email will be held until reading fees are received via regular mail.

  13. Officers and Directors of The Robert Frost Foundation as well as festival organizers are not eligible to enter the award.
